The evolution of mobile networks requires constant upgrades to support exponentially growing data traffic. Función Digital led a large-scale project to modernize cellular infrastructure nationwide, carrying out critical engineering tasks at more than 400 technical sites to optimize the efficiency and capacity of the transmission network.

Project Objectives:

  • SWAP and Incremental Processes: Uninstalling and replacing legacy network equipment with state-of-the-art technologies, as well as increasing capacity at overloaded nodes.
  • Clean-Up and Refarming Projects: Technical cleanup of sites (removal of disused equipment) and reorganization of the radio spectrum to enable new high-speed frequency bands.
  • Technical Deployment and Work at Height: Installation, wiring, and configuration of RF modules, processing units, and antennas on elevated structures in accordance with rigorous industrial safety standards.

With more than 400 sites successfully upgraded, the project improved coverage, reduced the call drop rate, and prepared the infrastructure for the deployment of advanced mobile technologies, ensuring a stable, high-availability service.

This large-scale deployment reaffirms Función Digital’s logistical capabilities and technical leadership in the telecommunications sector. Our experience in simultaneously managing hundreds of nodes ensures a seamless technological transition for end users and optimal network performance.
